MARK DIXON
As an Art Director in the beauty/advertising industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented fashion and still-life photographers in the world. Out of respect for their well-earned title of “photographer,” I consider myself an “art director with a camera.”
My preference for approaching a still-life has always been to shoot from overhead, with the subject lying down. Shadows project the subject forward and give the image depth. Composition is something I’ve learned over the years, although flowers have their own natural sense of arrangement. I allow them to do whatever they want, with a little help.
With my final edit, I've combined my longing for spring, with the darkness and gloom of being trapped in the middle of winter.
