For Silvana Tagliaferri, painting is a vehicle of communication--an attempt to connect with others by telling a story or conveying a mood or feeling with paint. Her newest group pf paintings reflect her fascination with capturing the essence of a subject--its spirit and energy.  To achieve this end, she has put aside the brushes in lieu of palette knives and other found implements to apply paint. This new technique eliminates small details and assists in her quest to seize the gusto, the joy, and drama of the moment.
