MOMENTS IN TIME

This body of work developed from a fascination with Hubble space images, especially nebulae. Planetary nebulae are the product of sun-like stars shedding and then lighting up their outer layers late in life. Their blues, greens, and reds come from glowing gases such as hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, and oxygen. By the time the images are captured and transmitted to earth the nebulae have changed and shifted from that moment in time.

The second part of the exhibit formed from a fascination with laying near-neutral backgrounds of gold or black gesso then manipulating the wet surface with two or three colors until a moment in time stopped the creative process. Lettering was done with one tool, an EZ-A Flex pen designed by Canadian artist Alain Arial.
