LEE RUBENSTEIN
Lee Rubenstein, a native of Baltimore, Md., has been involved in the arts in one form or another his entire adult life, starting in photography, then fabric sculpture, then many years in ceramics and woodworking. More recently, he has settled into life on the Hudson River with his wife, Jo Hills. These paintings are inspired by the colors they see every day from their home and studios just 100 feet from the banks of the Hudson River in the hamlet of Cheviot in Germantown, NY.
“After many years hand-building pottery with porcelain slabs, It seemed natural to build texture into my paintings, so one may find sand, burlap, acrylic medium, ceramic tile adhesive or any number of substances beneath the acrylic paint.“
