March 2021 - Lisa Pinto
Dear Friends and Art Lovers,
Art Gallery 71 invites you to dive into the watery world of our featured artist, oil painter Lisa Pinto. Lisa will be exhibiting Friday, March 5-Sunday, March 28.
Lisa's paintings have been enchanting gallery visitors since the gallery opened. Her work offers the viewer a path to enter the landscape in an atmospheric way. She is not interested in the viewer recognizing the exact location of a landscape but rather to “remember” being there. Her lines tend to be softer than nature and bring the observer’s perceptibility into play. She uses rich colors that define the mood of the work. “Art and painting help me lose myself in a quiet place of imagination and challenges my tendency toward perfectionism. I’m learning to paint outside the lines so the viewer can see
within them. My purpose as a painter is to engage the creative thought of the viewer with pleasing colors, shapes, and forms. Art is said to be of personal preference, but I believe painting mages that bring enjoyment and set the mood for curiosity."
The beautiful surroundings of the Hudson Valley have been the primary source of inspiration for her work but in this exhibition, one also will find oneself at the ocean as storm clouds recede, skipping boulders along the river, and gazing at lights on the other side at eventide.
Lisa’s other painting enthusiasm is her portraits of pets. She loves animals and is a volunteer at the Ulster County SPCA. Lisa delights in accepting commissions to paint pets. “…These commissioned paintings bring both the client and myself great joy. Capturing the sparkle in the animal’s eyes and the delightful expression on its face makes the work compelling.”
Lisa has exhibited her work throughout the Hudson Valley in both group and solo shows. She has placed her paintings in the community via restaurants, real estate offices, libraries, and banks. Her artwork can be found in many private residences. Lisa has participated in the annual juried “Art Studio Views”, a tour of artist’s studios in Northern Dutchess County, served on the steering committee of the Red Community Arts Network and was a founding member of the Gallery at Rhinebeck. She currently shows her landscapes at Art Gallery 71, also in Rhinebeck, and serves as a member of their steering committee.of
Joining Lisa in March will be an exhibition of all Art Gallery 71 members.
