May 2021 - Jacinta Kroner

Jacinta Kroner, Mouth, 12”x16”

Dear Friends and Art Lovers,

You are invited to welcome spring and enjoy the art work of Jacinta Kroner, at the gallery Friday, May 7 - 31, 2021.

One Medium Leads to Another

Jacinta Kroner is a young artist interested in several artistic mediums. “I experiment with many types of mediums and find inspiration from nature and other artists.  However, I always find myself going back to encaustic and collage. I feel that mixed media allows me the freedom to execute an idea in a way that is different than any one artist could attempt because of the infinite number of materials available.”
A few words flow through all Jacinta’s work:  blue and black, abstract, solitude, calmness, and especially paper.  She is particularly fascinated with paper:  its origin, the way it feels, where it comes from, how it has been used, what it is made of, its color and patterns.  She has an eye for different kinds of paper and wherever she goes collects scraps to full sheets.  Organized chaos is important for an artist who collects paper.  Jacinta has plastic bins of torn and painted paper that serve as giant roller decks of color, texture and size. “I love adding to the bins and turning through them looking for inspiration. I also keep giant sheets of paper hung on the wall, so I never forget what I have available and I am always looking, for inspiration. I am about to start creating my own paper and make my art pieces truly original organic pieces.”
Her active, experimental nature keeps her working with paper in combination with other materials to create abstract collage pieces full of color or black and white utilizing a range of paints and ink. She enjoys manipulating paper to see what other potentials it has.

This exhibition will also include Kroner’s work in encaustic.  "My collage art has led to my learning how to use encaustic. I found the melted wax and pigment to be beautiful and primal with its ancient origins. It's an expensive medium and takes practice but it's truly my favorite to work with because of the qualities just mentioned. I originally connected and merged the two mediums because that's how mentors had introduce the practice and I continued with this because of my love of both paper and the heated wax."

This artist is comfortable working not only in different mediums but in different sizes.  Her small pieces particularly are condensed into small spaces with no more elements present than those required to make her point.

Also on exhibit will be the work of all members of Art Gallery71 .
