Alix Hallman Travis
Alix Hallman Travis is a painter who works primarily in watercolor and oil but also pen-and-ink and occasionally multimedia. Her media and tools change with the seasons--spring and summer draw her outside to paint en plein air in watercolor; fall and winter bring her back into the studio to paint in oil, often using her watercolor paintings to inspire the subject matter for the oils. Her method is spontaneous and rapid, one stroke determining the next. "I am not interested in recreating a faithful record. My aim is to create fanciful compositions that reflect the mood of a particular moment."
