FEATURED ARTIST February 2025
Art Gallery 71 invites you to
Primordial: New Oil Paintings
a show by artist KP Devlin
February 7 - March 2
Reception: Sunday, February 16, 12-2pm
Born in Atlanta, GA in 1971, KP Devlin relocated to New York City in 1989, where he spent 32 years writing, painting, and performing his music until moving to the Hudson Valley in 2021. He has had a successful career as both a singer/songwriter and as a fine art painter.
Drawing inspiration from his own dreams and meditation visions, as well as imagery from artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, Remedios Varo and David Lynch, Devlin’s oil paintings weave humorous and horrifying images into hallucinogenic landscapes, oozing with saturated primary colors and gradated earthtones. This new series, entitled “Primordial,” seems to hint at what could be a vision of the ultimate origin story. Matter and energy emerge from the void, transmogrify into various flora and fauna, as well as their natural and industrial byproducts, and spiral off into the multiverse.
