September 2021 - Emily Clark
I am driven to capture in my work, the human reaction to the world around us: the beauty, the love, the oneness - or the loneliness and isolation we all may feel. I began my studies at the Art Students League in Manhattan at the age of ten, went on to the High School of Music and Art, and then majored in fine art at The City College of New York. I am particularly interested in the depth and variation achievable with the oil medium and work almost exclusively with oil on canvas. What I hope to achieve in a finished work is a moment for the viewer to see inside the soul of another human, a connectivity and oneness in which one's mind can pause and revel in our shared humanity.
